AgriStability Update - August 2022

POSTED: Aug 22, 2022

The deadline to submit your AgriStability forms is just around the corner!

The deadline to submit 2021 AgriStability program forms, without penalty, is September 30, 2022.

We know September is a busy time of year – so we encourage producers to file now! Submitting your AgriStability forms ahead of the September 30 deadline allows SCIC to process your file sooner. And if you are in a benefit position, your payment is issued faster.

Submit your program forms by fax, mail, or email, or drop off at your local SCIC office. You can also use AgConnect to easily enter your program information online.

Using AgConnect

Information submitted online through AgConnect enters SCIC’s system directly, allowing your application to be processed sooner. Plus, your secure AgConnect account gives you access to your previous AgriStability information including your annual Enrolment/Fee notice, benefit history, record of form submissions and detailed Calculation of Benefits.

To begin using AgConnect, contact the AgriStability Call Centre at 1-866-270-8450.

Triggering a Payment

The information you submit through your AgriStability forms determines if you qualify for a payment. Your AgriStability payment is based on your farm’s program year compared to your historical reference margin. To receive a payment, your production margin for the 2021 program year must fall below your reference margin by more than 30 per cent.

If you do not file your forms annually, there are gaps in the information needed to build the reference margin. This will cause delays when processing future AgriStability files and issuing potential payments.

How AgriStability Works

Did you receive a letter from AgriStability?

In recent months, you may have received a call or letter from SCIC asking for clarification or additional information regarding a previous AgriStability application. Please contact the AgriStability Call Centre to clarify this information and avoid any further delays with processing your 2021 AgriStability file. In most cases, SCIC requires this additional information or clarification to move forward with the current year's application or issue any potential benefit payment.

AgriStability Payments – Calculation of Benefits

Once you submit your AgriStability forms and we process your file, SCIC will send you a Calculation of Benefits showing a summary of your allowable income, expenses and supplemental information. The Calculation of Benefits explains how we determine if you receive a benefit payment.
