News From SCIC
Today, Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister David Marit announced changes to the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation's (SCIC) Guardian Dog Rebate Program.
The changes to the rebate, under the Wildlife Damage Compensation and Prevention Program, make preventing wildlife damage to producers' livestock more affordable by increasing the maximum rebate from $100 to $400 per dog.
Today, Canada’s Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Lawrence MacAulay and Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister David Marit announced additional payments will be provided to eligible livestock producers already enrolled in the 2023 Canada-Saskatchewan Feed Program. The Program, introduced on October 20, 2023, was put in place to help maintain the breeding herd in drought impacted regions of the province.
SCIC's Weather-Based Programs are designed to protect producers against weather-related risks. Programs include the Forage Rainfall Insurance Program, Mixed Forage Rainfall Insurance Program, Intercrop Rainfall Insurance Program, Corn Rainfall Insurance Program and Corn Heat Unit Insurance Program.
The Crop Insurance Program continues to respond in times of need. Producers’ coverage and premium are individualized to their operation. Coverage reflects each producer’s production records and premium reflects each producer’s claim history.
