The Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation (SCIC) is reminding Crop Insurance customers of the March 31 deadline to enrol in the 2014 program.
March 31, 2014, is the deadline to apply for, reinstate, cancel or make changes to your 2014 Crop Insurance contract, including all crops to be insured and coverage levels. Producers also should report any land which has been added or deleted from their contract.
A number of enhancements were introduced for the 2014 program including the introduction of the Bee Mortality Insurance Pilot Program and a pilot program to provide yield-loss coverage for corn. Both programs have been developed through industry consultation and provide a wider variety of coverage for Saskatchewan producers.
Additional 2014 Crop Insurance Program enhancements include increasing the base grade for flax, adding field peas to the contract price option and expanding the number of crops eligible for vegetable insurance. Crop Insurance enhancements made in previous years, such as expanded coverage for soybeans, Unseeded Acreage Benefit and yield cushioning, will also continue in 2014.
