Waren Ames

Executive Director of AgriStability

Waren came to SCIC in August 2014, starting as the Manager of Policy, Program Development and Readiness in the AgriStability Unit, until May 2018, when he moved into the role of Executive Director for AgriStability.

Prior to joining SCIC, Waren was with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he was involved with the AgriStability program and was the Manager, Workforce Orientation, Learning and Development.

Waren was born in Swan River, Manitoba. His family lived in different northern areas of Manitoba, moving from Thompson to Lynn Lake, and then to The Pas. His family always spent their summers on his grandparents' mixed farm just north of Minitonas, in the Swan River valley. In the early 1980s, his family moved back to the farm permanently. His parents have moved off the farm and live in Minitonas.

Waren, his wife and two daughters, Jennifer and Melissa, live in Melville.
